The Tale of  two cities: Sacrifice


    The book “The Tale of two cities” is published in 1859.It happened in a French Revolution context.One of the most important element in the story is “sacrifice.”This is a way of shelve something you want for a determined kind of reason.In the novel, there are different kinds of sacrifaces.Therefore, they carried out many changes that facilitate the revival of love and happiness.The most significant sacriface was Carton´s decision in the novel.

    The very first signs of sacrifice are noted in the opening scenes of the book.Dickens named that in the middle of revolution was produced a heavy vengeance.It has happened Lucie´s etternity devotion to her father and it was a clear example of how a person could sacriface their own life. As Dr Manette made giving up his objectives for his daughter.He wanted that Lucie marry to the man that she loved.Moreover, Charles sacrificed his family wealth and his heredity in order to live a guilt free life for them.This act of sacrifice allowed a significant future and prosperity.

    The most important sacrifice in the novel was Sidney Carton´s decision to sacrifice his life in order to save Lucie´s life.He knew the importance of death, because he would do anything for her.His feelings for Lucie were real since the very beginning of the novel.He was willing to do everything for the person he loved and he developed an unrequited love for Lucie Manette.Furthermore, he had a positive view for the future.
